Just a good day all around

Finally into March and my heart can’t help but feel a little lighter.  Not yet warmer… but we are definitely on the down hill slope as far as spring goes.

Yesterday it was cold, –20C, but the wind was still and the sun just that much higher and resting a bit warmer on my face.

This past week our Vet gave Sadie the green light to increase her activity.   Hard to believe that it has been close to six months since her injury.   Dr. Karen had only good things to say about her progress and gave the impression that the big thing now will be to maintain muscle mass to protect from further injury and to maintain mobility.

The sunshine was a calling and deciding that maybe today should be the day, I loaded the dogs into the car and headed off to the dog park… the first time in six months.

Dogs have way better memories than we give them credit for.  As soon as we turned into the drive into the park,  both Sadie and Coco were at attention… heads up, tails up, their entire bodies quivering with excitement.

Being Saturday, the park was busy with people and dogs.   It felt so good to be back.  I opened the door and the dogs practically flew as they leaped to their freedom,  noses already twitching before they even hit the ground.   Happy days!

The canine welcoming committee was there to meet and greet.

The park is an absolutely fabulous place to walk in the winter.   The creek beds are all frozen and covered with walking paths.    The walking is easy.   The scenery is wonderful.

We spent a good hour walking and visiting with other dogs and their owners.     Sadie managed well.   I saw no signs that her injury was bothering her.    All I saw was a very very happy dog… two happy dogs actually.  :-)    I must admit.. I was feeling happy and free myself.

And then, just to make the day more perfect, I was able to put in some ‘Birdie time’.

Oh my goodness… but that little one makes me smile.    Not even four months old and she is a mover and a groover.  Not to mention, a horseback rider.

I really must work on less chatter while making videos.  :-)

You certainly deserve good news, a great outdoor day with the dogs and a precious display by your little Birdie. Such energy and personality!!

How are you tilting the pictures like that? I can’t tell from your html, and the originals seem normal.

Nevermind, I see it now. You alterred the thumb photo, not the one that you get when you click it. Smoke and mirrors. :)

Spring is in the air here as well… in fact, it has morphed directly from winter and lows in the teens to summer with highs today in the mid 80′s. Not to worry.. they say the 40′s will be back by the end of the week.

I chatter too much when doing videos too then get so mad at myself if I want to use them on a family DVD or something! You have an awful lot of cuteness going on around you! And I imagine Sadie is ecstatic to have some freedom. Spring hit here this weekend. Too warm for now but it was nice to know what is coming.

Neat angled photos. It gives such a feel of pictures casually slid across a table.

Great to see Sadie’s clear bill to romp again.

You’re right, you do have more winter there. We’re snowing again today but at least some of it is melting as it falls.

  8. Keep on chattering while you’re taking videos. It’s clear you light up her life! (Be thankful for that hair. My son’s was so light he looked pretty bald until he was a year old!)

I like the Grandma chatter too. I can hear the love in all your voices…I caught a bit of proud Mom and Dad in the backgroud, too. Birdie is surrounded by so much love.
Here in Victoria it is snowing like crazy!!! For my exercise I will be shovelling instead of going to curves (:

I love that picture of all the dogs greeting each other! It looks like everyone enjoyed the bright, sunny day.
Birdie is too cute for words, and she sure lights up when she hears Grandma’s voice!
    Have a great week!

  11. It’s a toss up as to who is cuter; Birdie or happy Grandma-heh!

Only you can make winter attractive to me, Coll. Thanks for beginning my day with a smile.

  12. In a world loaded with bad news these days, it’s good to be able to go visiting and see happy dogs, a happy baby and hear a loving grandma. Helps a person keep perspective on things…

It’s warming up down here in Pennsylvania… hope it gets warmer up your way soon.

That’s good news about Sadie! And I love the dog park pics. Our community has finally approved a dog park. It’s about time!

Wonderful little Birdie video. I think the chatter makes it even cuter!
