a good week

It has been a good week and because I am now enjoying 4 days off.. it is an even better weekend. :-)

Lots of photo opportunities these past few days, so I am thinking that I will share some of my favourites.

MissAudrey

This past Friday my niece and her most darling little girl dropped over for a visit. They are in town visiting from Vancouver. Little MissA is the sweetest little thing.

She and Sadie are best friends.

After a cold and wet summer, September has been gracing us with some lovely fall days. Yesterday started out on the chilly side, but the sun was shining and the winds calm. Two friends and I met at Birds Hill park for a combo dog-walk-photo-shoot.

Sadly, I had to leave Sadie at home. With her bad knee there is no way she could do the walk. Roland said she cried after Coco and I left. I am still feeling bad about that.

Coco, on the other hand, was thrilled at the opportunity to be out and about. He may be small but he is a great little hiker.

Birds Hill park is a provincial park just a stones throw down the highway from Winnipeg, and a mere 15 minutes from my front door.

Surprisingly the trees are still quite green, no dramatic change in colour as yet.. but there are hints and spurts of reds and yellows here and there. Hard to believe that tomorrow we will celebrate the autumnal equinox.

I love the fall.

Of all the seasons it seems to me that fall, and all that it promises, is perhaps the perfect time to practice the art of mindfulness.. embracing the moment and letting go of the past and the future. I hope to give it a go.

I love your pictures – and your little girl is just adorable. I was hoping that Sadie’s knee was better. Hopefully, soon you’ll see some good improvement.

Sadie looks so happy to be playing with little MissA. Great photos!
Soon the colours of fall will provide lots of opportunity for some stunning photos.

  4. What a great photo of Sadie smiling at Little Miss A. And how sad that she cried that she had to be left behind when it was time to go to the park. I hope Sadie’s leg feels better soon so she too can enjoy the upcoming fall.

Just came over from Pearls. Thought I might see a pirate. But that photo is much better! She looks like someone to be reckoned with.

I am hoping that Sadie can recover, but she does not appear to have lost her spirit. Great photo of MissA and Sadie.

You put the fall into true perspective. I was just saying to some people how lucky we are to live where four distinct season occur. Time stands still for no one and having markers like the fall help us to remember to make the most of our time. The colours help to make the transition easier. The smell of a turkey in the oven on a cool fall day is wonderful too.

Winnipeg has some wonderful fall weather. Glad you had a lovely weekend off. Nice pictures. Neil & I were at the cabin in Winnipeg Beach. We spent Sunday afternoon around a campfire enjoying the turning trees, blue sky and the Canada geese honking overhead. Oh yes and a drink to toast the end of summer. And today back to work and rain+sigh+ H

As usual, wonderful photos Coll :)

But I am absolutely in love with the little one and Sadie! Those are wonderful candids. Sooooo cute. And for such a little one, she has a look of wisdom about her.

I love the picture of her with Sadie!
You’re lucky to have that place to walk so close. We have no real colour here either…maybe a bit further north. It is going to be sunny and 24 both Wed. and Thurs.!! We haven’t had really hard frost yet so maybe that’s not REAL Indian Summer.
I love fall too and I’m decorating all over.

  14. Beverly says:

What a cutie Little Miss A is. I love the top photo. I hope Sadie is soon well enough to go out on a romp. I hope she truly understands why she’s left behind. Poor baby.

  15. Pearl says:

Crackling cold and change are good for mindfulness. Lovely looking place to walk and find some too.

  16. Jeff says:

That third photo is a great shot of MissA and Sadie.
I also love the fall, and I love the notion of “… embracing the moment and letting go of the past and the future.” I will also give that a try this season. More and more the seasons are whisking by faster and faster, so living in the now means more than it used to.

Those pictures of your niece are adorable. Hope you’re enjoying your time off.
