Love Hate Meme

While enjoying my morning blog surfing, I noticed that two of my dearest blogging buds, namely Rollie and Pearl, had each posted on the love hate meme. I am not usually a meming (sp?) type of gal.. but this one I found intriguing so I decided to jump right in.

Here goes….

I love to eat:

  • yup.. that about sums it up .. I love to eat.

I hate to eat:

  • eggs
  • soggy sandwiches

I love to go:

  • for long walks on balmy days.. even winter has its balmy days.
  • to visit my sisters.. one is in Montreal, one is in Victoria
  • to dog events.. conformation shows, agility or obedience trials or classes
  • to country fairs.. the old fashion variety where there are horses and cows as well as a midway.
  • out for lunch with my girl friends

I hate to go:

  • to the dentist even though I am fortunate to have a very good one.. must be a childhood thing.
  • to large social gatherings where I know very few.. not one for small talk I suppose
  • to doctor appointments where the wait time is long.. I do that a lot with Mom.

I love it when:

  • the sun is out and the wind is calm.
  • a soft warm breeze brushes my face.
  • my kids and grand-kids come over to visit.
  • Bear comes to keep me company.. yup even when he walks in front of my computer screen and tip toes over the key board.
  • I am walking the dogs at night and it is still, quiet, and snowing the big snow flakes that fall softly and twinkle under the street lights.
  • I am walking the dogs very late at night after the heat of a summers day and a full moon lights our way.
  • I am walking the dogs.

I hate it when:

  • I am late for anything.
  • my house is in such a mess that I don’t know where to begin.
  • an early frost kills my veggies and flattens my flowers.
  • my hand, numb from the cold, turns the key in the ignition and I hear only the wrrrrr.. wrrrrrr.. wrrrrr of a frozen car engine that refuses to start.
  • I have been sitting in a doctors waiting room for over an hour and the receptionist announces that the doctor has been further detained.
  • A snow blizzard blows in while I am at work.. who knows how or when I will get home.

I love to see:

  • our Manitoba clear blue sky reaching to every horizon without a cloud in sight.
  • the night sky alive with a trillion stars and the Northern Lights dancing in the distance.
  • horses running across a field.. manes and tails flying
  • a glimpse of a wild creature in its natural environment
  • my family sitting around our dining room table
  • my children smiling
  • my mom’s smile
  • the first shoots of green bursting through the dirt in spring
  • the first Robin sighting in March/April
  • my dogs happy and frolicking

I hate to see:

  • My children or my animals in pain… their pain is my pain.
  • sadness in my children’s eyes
  • hatred etched on a persons face.. even if it is only visible via “the media” and the person is thousands of miles from here.
  • trees and topsoil bulldozed down and away to make room for more new two story houses, crunched so close together that gardens are an implausible afterthought.
  • cruelty and violence in any way, shape, or form.. even that depicted on the TV or movie screen.. how can that be entertainment??
  • the driveway and street blocked with several feet of snow. *sigh*

I love to hear:

  • the sounds that I recognize in stillness.. the south wind, the crickets, the song birds.
  • the patter of rain against my bedroom window just as I am tucking in for the night.
  • laughter that hurts the belly and causes tears to slide down cheeks
  • the gentle rustling made by a soft wind through the leaves of trees.
  • Sadie singing.. “woooooooooo..” whenever she is happy or excited which is much of the time.
  • the little “chatter woofs” that Coco makes when he has something important to tell me.
  • “Hi Hon, come kiss your man”
  • “Hi Mom, Hi Grandma”
  • the honking of our Canadian Geese as they return to us after a long winter away.

I hate to hear:

  • voices raised in anger
  • voices raised in pain and anguish
  • the north wind howling about my house .. especially if I have somewhere to be in an hour.

  1. Do we have country fairs like that around here? Hmm, must do research that sounds like a wonderful adventure for this summer. :)

Coll replies:The biggest and best is the Brandon Royal Winter Fair. This year it is on from March 31 – April 5. In the summer there is the Carman Country Fair (Dufferin).

  2. Jan says:

A beautifu list. It could be mine except it never snows and the Canadian geese spend their winters here. :-)

  3. Anvilcloud says:

Generating lists is not something that I do well, but you do.

  4. Jan says:

I think the geese are Canadian although I’ve never actually heard them sing “O Canada.” Post pictures when they return.

  5. ruth says:

Wow! What a lot of thought you put into this comprehensive list!

I hate being late AND waiting in doctor’s offices too.
I love to hear loon calls.
I love to go to the log fishing cabin.
I hate when another health problem surfaces.
    I love to sing!

  6. beverly says:

I just clicked on your photos of Bear in the sidebar. What gorgeous photos! I didn’t realize Bear was a manx. Did I read that correctly?
By the way, I like your list too.

Coll replies: Yes Beverly.. Bear is a Manx.

  7. Pearl says:

That’s so beautiful, item by item, musical. I’m so glad you jumped in.

  8. Carla/Tn. says:

I love reading your blog. You express yourself so beautifully!

  9. Pam says:

I agree with Carla, you do express yourself beautifully. I loved reading all these things about you and was surprised by none of them, who you are shines through in everything you write. Your kindness, your compassion and your sensitivity.

  10. Deana says:

The “Hi Hun, come kiss your man” got me. How sweet is that! I don’t like being late either. I hate that feeling. I forgot that one. I had no idea you didn’t like eggs. I’m not sure I know too many people who don’t like eggs! But I admit they do stink and sometimes gross me out when my husband cooks them.

  11. Jennifer says:

There is nothing like a good cup of coffee with old friends. Our times together Colleen are so effortless, but important to us all.
