Old Man Winter has been smiling down on Manitoba the past few days. With above seasonal temperatures and little in the way of wind.. we have been experiencing the best of what winter can be.

Today was such a perfect day to be outdoors that I loaded up Sadie and Coco into the car and we headed off to Kilcona dog park. We have not visited the park since the snow has fallen and by the time we turned into the parking area.. both dogs had their noses hard pressed against the backseat window trembling with anticipation.

With the fewer hours of daylight and the long shadows that come with this time of year, days like this are a gift. Yesterday was just as nice. My friend, BRD and I strolled the river walk with our dogs, Lad and Sadie. The sharp contrast between the white of the snow and the blue of the sky had us marveling at the wonder of it all.
I will have to tuck the memory of these two days away so that I may bring it out a little later.. perhaps in the deep and dark days of January when I know I will need to be reminded of just how beautiful winter can be.

What beautiful pictures. If winter were all about sunshine, I would be able to enjoy it, but we haven’t seen any sign that the sun is still there for days now and it is more than depressing.
We just got slugged with our 3rd huge snowfall on the weekend! This seems to be a winter like we had growing up in the 50′s that I remember. (I have limited access to a computer lately, hence fewer visits! Hope you’re all geared up and decorated for the season!)
There sure is something wonderful about a clear, crisp, blue sky day after it has snowed.
I love the pics of the dogs. They have fun no matter what…a good lesson for all of us. Are we having any fun?? In Victoria the temp will hit 9 degrees today….wind and rain…I don’t mind it. I know I will see the sun again in February haha.
Nice that your weather is cooperating a bit. The best part of winter I like is when the trees are flocked with snow or heavy frost. Stay warm.
It was even nice way up here this evening (-9 according to the thermometer in the big diesel… I never even turned the heated seats on!).
My fiancee and I will be in the neighbourhood around the 1st/3rd. I’ll be getting hold of the Winnipeg Princess for a blogmeet. Interested?
What absolutely beautiful photos, a sugarcoated world for your dogs to play in. The kind of winter days you speak of even have a special smell to them and as I sit here looking at your photos and reading your words, my mind fills with memories of such days.
Your header is perfect, and, of course, Sadie and Coco are just marvelous. Thank you for sharing them with us. I’m glad that you get some sunny days that make you want to get out.
Dixie just loves the snow! Wes takes her to a school that is close by here for her to romp around. One of these days, I’ll have to take her to an off leash park too. It seems like such fun for the dogs!
They love to romp in their parks, don’t they? It sounds like you had just as much fun as the pooches. You have to take what you can get in the good old wintertime.
I love those pictures…I want snow pictures so very badly!
You’re right – days like that are a gift. And it looks as if your puppies really enjoyed themselves.

What a fun day, playing in the snow is just the best! Sometimes when Mum and I go outside and it’s clear, cold, and the snows on the ground – and we just take a big wiff of the air – it smells so clean!
Have a great holiday!

Simple pleasures, watching dogs in the snow on a sunny day… that’s a good day, one worth remembering.
Love the new header picture! Sadie appears to be ready to point out that fat grouse hiding in the bushes ahead!
Truly, a deep blue sky and sunshine on blinding white snow is one of the prettiest sights on earth. Add a couple active, playful dogs and a friend and you have a perfect day!
Wonderful Pictures!
We wish you happy holidays a Merry, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
